The People Behind Summer Sounds
The Summer Sounds staff all have a love
of live music. As non-paid volunteers, their reward is seeing all the smiling faces
at the Friday night concerts.
Steve Shapson

Since 1986
Steve Shapson has been active in sports apparel retailing. His shops, both The
Screamin' Tuna Surf Shop and Cedarburg Homebrew & Wine sells active clothing,
toys and accessories as well as homebrewing, cheesemaking and winemaking supplies.
His online business, www.TheCheeseMaker.com
provides cheesemaking supplies and instruction for the home cheesemaker for the
global market. Having a love of live music and community, Shapson decided
to help start a free music concert series in 2003.
Kathy Lanser

Whether walking down the red carpet
at the Grammys or walking to Summer Sounds at Cedar Creek Park, one thing remains
the same - Kathy loves live music. For years Kathy was a record executive
at Narada in the PR and Marketing Divisions. She also was the Account Executive
representing the music of Peter Buffett for Independent Sound. Her career
started with concert promoter Stardate Productions (later, Cellar Door). Kathy
was one of the early board members for Jazz in The Park. Prior to her years in music
she was Vice President/Account Services for Creata Promotion Ad Agency in Melbourne,
Australia.
Sue Schrader

Sue Schrader has been in the music business
for over 20 years. She began her career booking bands while she was in college
and worked for EMI Records for 15 years. She currently works for Blind Ambition
Mgt., Ltd., an artist management company, where she’s responsible for the
marketing and public relations for the company’s clients. Recently she was
invited to the White House along with the band which she represents (The
Blind Boys of Alabama) as their press agent. She shook hands with The President
of the USA, and met Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp.
Mike and Haly Besaw

Mike and Haly have been attending Summer Sounds since its beginning. Since they’ve
enjoyed so many concerts, they decided to volunteer to help the Summer Sounds program.
Both Mike and Haly are active volunteers in Cedarburg where they live with their
three kids. Mike is a software developer and Haly
is a Financial Advisor for RW Baird.

2011 MC'S
Darin Strohmenger
Darin, a 2010 graduate of Cedarburg High school will be our MC, announcing the concerts.
He plans on attending Winona State University in the fall majoring in broadcasting/communication
studies. Darin was involved in many after school activities such as football, baseball,
school musicals, crowd leading at sporting events, announcing this years Powder
Puff game, MC'ing Jam for Charity, heading this years Independent Film Festival,
and many others. He enjoys ultimate Frisbee and disc golfing in his free time, as
well as visiting local coffee shops.
Chris Ruska
Chris Ruska is a high school senior this year at Cedarburg High School. He is involved
with high school soccer as well as the performing arts program at the school. Next
year he will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison in hopes of
studying Political Science and Theatre. He is quite excited to be a part of Summer
Sounds this year! Past MC gigs have been Jam for Charity, Independent Film Festival,
and numerous pep rallies held at the high school. He is also one of the two students
who perform the daily morning announcements.
