The Folks Behind Summer Sounds
The
Summer Sounds staff all have a love of live music. As non-paid volunteers,
their
reward is seeing all the smiling faces at the Friday
night concerts.

Shapson

Since 1986 Steve Shapson has been active in sports apparel retailing. His shops, both The Screamin' Tuna Surf Shop and Cedarburg Homebrew & Wine sells active
clothing, toys and accessories as well as homebrewing,
cheesemaking and winemaking supplies. His online business, www.TheCheeseMaker.com provides cheesemaking supplies and instruction for the home cheesemaker locally and for the global market. Having a
love of music and community, Shapson decided to help
start a free music concert series in 2003.

Hartwig
Public
Relations Marketing Advisor
Mary
Hartwig has 20 years of event management, marketing,
public relations, and fundraising experience.
Working
in both the non-profit and private sectors, she has produced
numerous special events, worked with nationally-known
figures, and coordinated fine arts programs including
artists-in-residence, children and adult visual art collections,
and music and dance initiatives. She is a former
member of the Wisconsin Alliance for Art Education and
former Program and Communication Director for Very Special
Arts. Her love of music and vocal experience drew
her to volunteer for CMF.

Whether
walking down the red carpet at the Grammys or walking to
Summer Sounds at Cedar Creek Park, one thing remains the
same - Kathy loves live music. For years Kathy was
a record executive at Narada in the PR and Marketing Divisions. She
also was the Account Executive representing the music of
Peter Buffett for Independent Sound. Her career started
with concert promoter Stardate Productions (later, Cellar
Door). Kathy was one of the early board members for
Jazz in The Park. Prior to her years in music she was Vice
President/Account Services for Creata Promotion Ad Agency
in Melbourne, Australia.

Sue
Schrader
Talent Coordinator/Marketing/Public Relations

Sue
Schrader has been in the music business for over 20 years. She
began her career booking bands while she was in college
and worked for EMI Records for 15 years. She currently
works for Blind Ambition Mgt., Ltd., an artist management
company, where she’s responsible for the marketing
and public relations for the company’s clients.

Heidi Roberts joined Summer Sounds to help promote live music while supporting Cedarburg's great community.
Heidi is in sales and marketing and enjoys talking up the weekly concerts as she meets people in and around the community.

Mitch Clark

Mitch Clark has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with Fortune 500 companies including Procter & Gamble, Clorox and Newell Rubbermaid. Today, he is a college planning consultant, College Sherpa (www.thecollegesherpa.com). College Sherpa guides families of high school students through the college preparation, selection, admission and financial aid process.
In his spare time, Mitch is active in community theater, sings in his church choir and performs locally as a member of the soft rock duo, Next Exit.
Whit Lehnberg

Whit
Lehnberg has been in the music business for over 30 years. In
the 80's and 90's he toured the world as a tour manager,
production manager front-of-house engineer and a guitar
technician for the likes of Elvin Bishop, Frank Marino,
Lonnie Brooks and a host of others. After re-locating from
the San Francisco Bay area to Cedarburg, Wisconsin in the
early 90's, he now works part of the year for Milwaukee
World Festivals heading up their Contract Department for
Summerfest, the world’s largest music festival. He
also produces blues festivals for his own company, Beau
Geste Productions, LLC.

Lynne Falk, formerly a Cedarburg teacher lends a hand each week at the concerts. Lynne has always had a love of music, attending many concerts in Milwaukee. Her son is in a local band.

Shelby Gerth

Shelby is a student at Concordia University Wisconsin located in Mequon, WI. She is currently majoring in Public Relations and Business Communication with a minor in Spanish. She is one of the newer members of the group as well as the Summer Sounds first ever intern! Shelby loves all types of music. She also plays the baritone saxophone.
